Tehran - The 1st technical working group meeting of negotiation on Trilateral Transit Trade Agreement (Chahbahar) between the Governments of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of India was held on 21-22 September 2015 in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.
The core aim for the creation of this framework is to expand regional trade between the three countries.
Chahbahar port due to its strategic location has particular economic importance to the countries of the region. At the sixth meeting of Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan (RECCA) held in Kabul on 3-4 September 2015, it was concurred that the Chabahar transit corridor agreement must be finalized as soon as possible.
Iran, Afghanistan and India intend to create an international transportation route the Chabahar transit corridor – in order to expand the mutual cooperation between the countries and consolidate their ties in various fields.
The representatives of the three countries attended the meeting has expressed their readiness to take steps for finalizing the text of the agreement and also declared the political wellness of their states to create the legal framework of the Chabahar Agreement for the establishment of a smooth and liberalized systems of trade and transit of goods among the three countries.
The representatives have decided to gather in New Delhi in order to finalize the agreement in the near future.
