Wednesday, March 01, 2017- The RECCA Business Forum was held today in Istanbul with the participation of around 300 representatives from governments, business leaders and experts from across the region. The Forum was opened by H.E. Homayoun Rasaw, Minister of Commerce and Industries of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and H.E. Fatih Metin, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey.
Three plenary sessions were held on connectivity, energy and business to business partnerships with speakers from Afghanistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Iran, regional and international organizations such as WTO, ITC, TRACECA, OSCE, UNIDO, IDB as well as the private sector partners including the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries and a number of Turkish business leaders.
A special focus was made throughout the Forum on innovative public-private-partnerships and business-to-business cooperation including with respect to the priority regional cooperation and investment projects under RECCA. The concluding session of the Forum included the presentation of salient points by the moderators of the three plenary sessions.
Dr. Mohammad Mustafa Mastoor, Deputy Minister of Finance and Special Representative and Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan delivered the closing remarks. The participants had also the opportunity to participate in business-to-business match-making and networking events which were held during the day as part of the Forum agenda with brief remarks by H.E. Amanullah Jahihoon, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Ankara.
