H.E. Adela Raz, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation met on 30 July 2017 in her office with H.E. Khemra Togalakov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Afghanistan and Mr. Shalar Geldinazarov, Director General of the Department for Middle East and Afghanistan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The two sides discussed both bilateral and regional economic cooperation as well as the preparations for the Seventh Meeting of the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII) scheduled to take place from 14-15 November 2017 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Deputy Foreign Minister Raz, referring to the growing economic cooperation between the two countries at both bilateral and regional levels, expressed her gratitude to the government of Turkmenistan for hosting RECCA VII. She stated that the Ashgabat Meeting would be a great opportunity to take stock of the progress made since RECCA VI in Kabul through a comprehensive review of the priority projects in areas such as energy; transport networks; trade and transit facilitation; communications; and business-to-business partnership as well as to discuss the challenges and investment needs with respect to the priority projects and the way forward.
During the meeting, Acting Director General Soroosh and Director General Geldinazarov provided a brief overview of the ongoing preparations and planned activities in the run-up to RECCA VII.
The two sides stressed the importance of continued consultation and coordination in preparation for RECCA VII.
