The First RECCA Ambassadorial Coordination Meeting in 2018 takes place at MoFA in Kabul

The First RECCA Ambassadorial Coordination Meeting in 2018 held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan with the participation of the Heads of Mission of the RECCA regional and partner countries and organizations, deputy ministers and high level representatives from the line ministries as well as the private sector institutions.

The meeting was opened with a keynote address by H.E. Adela Raz, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation followed by a presentation on RECCA priority activities and new initiatives in 2018 by Mr. Hassan Soroosh, Director General for Economic Cooperation. Deputy Minister Raz, highlighting some of the new achievements in areas such energy, trade and transit as well as transport, mentioned that “thanks to our collective efforts and achievements, regional economic cooperation has now taken root in our wider region and many aspect of connectivity including energy and transport connectivity as well as digital connectivity continue to make progress. People and businesses across the region have already started benefiting from greater connectivity and expanded trade and have loudly voiced their support to the ongoing regional cooperation efforts in the wider region. "

The second segment of the meeting included presentations on TAPI Gas Pipeline Project; CASA 1000 and TAP 500; the Chabahar Corridor, priority railway segments, and the RECCA Chamber of Commerce and Industries made respectively by Mr. Mir Ahmad Jawid Sadat, Deputy Minister of Mines and Petroleum; Mr. Mohmmad Gul Khulmi, Deputy Minister of Energy; representatives from the Ministry of Transport and the Afghanistan Railway Authority and Mr. Atiqullah Nusrat, CEO of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

The meeting continued with the launch of two policy papers on regional economic cooperation and women’s entrepreneurship development under the RECCA Brief Policy Series. The introduction on two policy papers were made by Mr. Firozi from the Center for Strategic Studies and Ms. Manizha Wafeq, President of AWCCI.
The First RECCA Ambassadorial Coordination Meeting also included a presentation on the Insurance Industry in Afghanistan made by Mr. Musa Kamawi, Director General for Insurance Affairs at the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan.

During the discussions, several interventions were made by the participating delegations from RECCA regional and partner countries and organizations on priority projects and activities under RECCA.
