The Second Working Group Meeting on Boosting Private Sector and Entrepreneurship Policies in Afghanistan held in Istanbul-Turkey

Istanbul, 26-27 April, 2018 – The Second Working Group Meeting on Boosting Private Sector and Entrepreneurship Policies in Afghanistan was hosted by the OECD with the participation of Afghanistan’s delegation led by H.E. Homayoon Rasaw Minister of Commerce and Industries of Afghanistan, OECD, EU, KOSGEB-Turkey, USAID, GIZ, ITC, IOM, and the World Bank on April 26-27, 2018 in Istanbul-Turkey.

The Second Working Group Meeting Participants discussed issues related to a) promoting business formalization, b) access to finance and c) improving the business environment in Afghanistan through digital government followed by initial recommendations on the three priority policy areas as well as further understanding of the current reforms in Afghanistan and sharing the OECD member and non-member countries’ experience and how these experiences can be applied to Afghanistan’s context.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan was represented by Mr. Azim Wardak, Deputy Director General for Economic Cooperation.

The First Working Group Meeting was held in Dubai, UAE, on January 24, 2018.
