Regional Partners’ Contributions discussed at the recent Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board (JCMB) meeting in Kabul.

Kabul, July 19, 2018 – At the recent JCMB meeting convened on July 19, 2018 at the Presidential Palace in Kabul, a special panel was dedicated to “Regional Partners’ Contributions”.

The panel was chaired by Mr. Toby Lanzer, Deputy SRSG for Afghanistan, UNAMA and speakers included Mr. Amir Ramin, Director General for Regional Cooperation, MoFA; Mr. Yigit Canay, Charge de Affaires, Embassy of Turkey; Mr. Darkhan Seitenov, Deputy Ambassador of Kazakhstan and Mr. Zhang Zhixin, Charge de Affaires of China in Afghanistan.

The Panel discussed the current and future engagement of major regional partners and their contribution to Afghanistan including under the two Afghanistan-centered regional cooperation platforms namely the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA) and the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process (HoA-IP).

The upcoming Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan to be held in November this year in Geneva, among other issues, will place a focus on Afghanistan-centered regional economic cooperation.
