New York – September 27, 2018, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation spoke today at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York with the participation of the President of Egypt as the chair of the group , UN Secretary General, the President of the General Assembly as well as foreign ministers from member countries.
Deputy Foreign Minister Raz highlighted the interconnected challenges of terrorism, extremism, organized crime and narcotics as well as socio-economic challenges including poverty and unemployment facing many developing countries across the world. She stressed the importance of pursuing an integrated approach to address these challenges while acknowledging the link between security and development.
She further spoke about the importance of sustainable development, trade and investment, regional economic cooperation as well as youth employment and women’s economic empowerment.
Palestine was elected as the chair of the group of G77 and China for 2019.
