Istanbul, 02-03 October, 2018 – The Third and Last Working Group Meeting on Boosting Private Sector and Entrepreneurship Policies in Afghanistan was hosted by the OECD with the participation of Afghanistan’s delegation led by H.E. Ajmal Ahmady Senior Economic Advisor to the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, OECD, EU, KOSGEB-Turkey, and the World Bank on October 2-3, 2018 in Istanbul-Turkey.
The Third Working Group Meeting Participants discussed issues related to a) promoting business formalization, b) access to finance and c) improving the business environment in Afghanistan through digital government followed by initial recommendations on the three priority policy areas as well as further understanding of the current reforms in Afghanistan and sharing the OECD member and non-member countries’ experience and how these experiences can be applied to Afghanistan’s context.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan was represented by Mr. Azim Wardak, Deputy Director General for Economic Cooperation.
The First and Second Working Group Meetings were held in Dubai, UAE, on January 24, 2018 and Istanbul, on April 26-27, 2018.
The outcomes and policy recommendations of these meetings will be presented in the OECD-Euro-Asia week, to be held on November 19-21, 2018 in Paris.
