Geneva, November 27, 2018, The first day of the Geneva Conference on Afghanistan began with multiple side events and meetings on a wide range of topics including infrastructure development, women’s economic empowerment and private sector development. Other side events and side meetings during the day will discuss issues such as regional partners and development partnership, growth and development, human rights, people on the move, counter narcotics and food security.
At the side meeting on connectivity and infrastructure development co-chaired by the Ministry of Finance and the European Union, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation, H.E. Adela Raz spoke about the significance of infrastructure development under various bilateral, trilateral and regional cooperation mechanisms and platforms including RECCA and HoA-IP. In this context, she highlighted some of the priorities including financing and investment as well as addressing the soft infrastructure.
