November 28, 2018, The Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan was opened this morning in Geneva attended by delegations from over 60 countries and organizations as well as representatives of civil society, the private sector and the media.
H.E. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and H.E. Rosemary A. DiCarlo, Under Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered keynote addresses.
H.E. Foreign Minister Rabbani and H.E and H.E. Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation delivered the opening remarks.
The Conference is co-hosted by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the United Nations, and will be co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister of Finance Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, and Special Representative of the Secretary-General Tadamichi Yamamoto.
The Conference will continue during the day with statements by the participating countries and organizations and will be concluded by H.E Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan.
