The Third Expert Group Meeting on the Implementation of the Lapis Lazuli Route Agreement held in Tbilisi

The Third Expert Group Meeting on the Implementation of the Lapis Lazuli Route Agreement was held on May 1-2, 2019 in Tbilisi, Georgia with the participation of officials and experts from the Contracting Parties. 
The participants discussed issues related to road transportation, customs procedures and visa facilitation including the challenges identified during the first shipment via the Lapis Lazuli Route which took place last December. Participants made the first review of the Protocol on Visa Facilitation which was prepared by Afghan side and stressed the importance of finalization and entering into force of the protocol as early as possible. The participants also highlighted the importance of information sharing including on transit operations and customs procedures as well as greater use of ICT in these areas. 
Delegations expressed the commitment of their countries to continuous collective efforts in support of the implementation of the Lapis Lazuli Route Agreement. 
Delegation of Afghanistan included Mr. Hassan Soroosh, Director General for Economic Cooperation, MoFA; Mr. Yahya Akhlaqi, Director General for Transit, MoIC; Mr. Shamsulahad Alkozey, Director for Revenue Service Department, Ministry of Finance; Mr. Hussni Mubarak azizi, Director of Foreign Affairs and Legislation, Ministry of Transport; Mr. Fardin Hashemi, Advisor to the Office of Deputy Head of the Administrative Office of the President; and Mr. Ismail Joya, Desk officer for Transit and Trade at the Economic Cooperation Department, MoFA.
