New York – September 28, 2018, Director General for Economic Cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Mr. Hassan Soroosh spoke today at the high-level panel on economic resilience and sustaining peace co-organized by Timor-Leste, Sierra Leona and the g7+ Secretariat on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Other speakers in the panel included the Minister of International Development of Canada; Minister of Planning and Economic Development of Sierra Leone and Chair of the g7+; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste; Assistant Secretary General for Economic Development; Minister of Health and Population of Central African Republic; and President of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Mr. Soroosh briefed the participants about Afghanistan’s self-reliance strategy and the national priority programs; ongoing efforts under the peace process as well as Afghanistan-centered regional economic cooperation efforts under RECCA and HoA-IP. He highlighted the importance of continued development partnership between countries of g7+ and international partners as well as greater investment promotion efforts in support of development priorities in conflict-affected countries.
