KABUL - Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar met with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Mirdov, who is on a two-day visit to Afghanistan.
At the beginning, Mr. Atmar welcomed Mr. Mirdov and his accompanying delegation to Kabul, describing Turkmenistan as a friendly, neighbor and brother country for Afghanistan, calling the relations between Kabul and Ashgabat excellent and friendly, and signing new agreements during the visit. The current Turkmen Foreign Minister called it a step towards further strengthening bilateral relations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs considered the expansion of economic, political and trade relations between Afghanistan and the countries of the region and the strengthening of regional consensus on peace talks and regional integration as important priorities of Afghanistan's foreign policy, in favor of expanding relations with neighboring countries and the region, especially Turkmenistan. He called for peace and stability in the region.
Then, the Turkmen Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the friendly and fraternal relations between Kabul and Ashgabat and thanked for the warm and cordial hospitality of Afghanistan during his visit to Kabul, and spoke about important issues in the relations between the two countries. Mr. Mirdov stated that Ashgabat is committed to cooperating with Afghanistan in the political, economic, trade and regional connectivity fields and considers the success of the Afghan peace talks to be important and fundamental to achieving these goals. The Turkmen Foreign Minister assured the Foreign Minister of his country's firm support for the success of the peace process and the position of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on regional peace and consensus.
The two countries 'foreign ministers spoke in detail about the preparations for the inauguration of the three projects to be inaugurated by the two countries' leaders in the near future. Subsequently, after signing two agreements and memoranda of understanding in the presence of Mr. Mohammad Shakir Kargar, Head of the Office of the President, Mirwais Nab, Deputy Political Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yama Shams, Head of the Railway Department, Heshmatollah Ghafouri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Seyed Mahbubollah Rabbani The head of the oil company ended their parliament. The signed agreements are as follows:
1. Cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan for 2021 and 2022
2. Memorandum of Understanding between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan Railway Authorities.
